Directory Spy

I have updated the Directory Lists section to add directories of directories. Basically directories made for advertising your new directory.

The first release of the Category Dumps is now available. V1.00 contains MySQL dumps for phpLinkDirectory V2.00 and V3.06. Thanks to Colbyt on the Digital Point Forums for his help in verifying the V2.00 dump works correctly.

If you want to see more categories in the dump, you can submit your category suggestions to the Category Project. All accepted suggestions will appear in later category dump releases.

I recently created a new directory (Moon Directory), and I am already on the queue to be included on the VileSilencer List.

I was spending my time collecting newly created directories advertised on Solicitations and Announcements at the Digital Point Forums. However, I have found that it is easier to just watch the list at VileSilencer, since these directories are known to be SEO friendly. The queue list is updated every few days, so its worth looking at.

As I have said before, getting on the VileSilencer list is a good way to get plenty of submissions, particularly if you run a free directory. The VileSilencer lists are used by a large number of directory submitters.

Here are two new free phpLD templates by Shabu Anower over at OS Designer, StoneFlash and GreyLine. Both have been designed for phpLD V3.05 and V3.06 (there are 2 versions of each template accordingly). Both designs are very clean and attractive, and worth considering for your next directory!

StoneFlash has a nice relevant links area that could be used for creating sponsored links (where you can charge a small amount for renting link space). You could also insert Google Adsense adverts in here as an alternative.

GreyLine has areas above and below the link categories, which would also be suitable for Google Adsense. A tip from me, don’t over-do it with the adverts, as you will find that directory link submitters will avoid your directory. I personally avoid directories with far too many adverts.

There is talk of this very talented guy doing a phpLD V2.0 version of these templates. If he does, I’ll let you know!

To speed up the state of the Category Project, I have used the existing database dump that’s been circulating for a while now. I will then add categories to that.

I have modified the behaviour of the Suggest Category feature so that it allows you to suggest many categories within a sub category without having to click on the back button on your browser. This should make it less irritating for you to suggest a category!

Please suggest as many categories as you can!

The Category Project is no-where near ready yet, so in the meantime, if you need a category dump, you can download categories for V3.0.6 from marcinnowak.se. He has basically updated the already existing V2.0 category dump to match the new category tables.

Syed Balkhi from Domaining.in has created this very smart new template for phpLD V3.0.5 and V3.0.6. You can see a live demo of the template at sbdesigns.info.
